(Shore Fire Media) Judah & The Lion have shared 'I AM A PRISM' today, their new 12-song collection celebrating hard-won growth, radical transformation and the everyday miracles that make life so meaningful.
After a trilogy of acclaimed releases navigating experiences with heartbreak, addiction and grief - 'I AM A PRISM' sees the Nashville duo emerging on the other side. "We use our music to propel us through hard things in life and shoot us forward into a more hopeful space," explains multi-instrumentalist Brian Macdonald of the album's mission. "Getting to that space isn't always easy, but we always come back better for it."
Nowhere is that more evident than on the just-released new song "Powerless," which finds lead vocalist Judah Akers reflecting on his journey with sobriety. "This record was me taking ownership of my own sh*t," he confides. "I think I used to feel ashamed about being powerless to drinking but I'm not ashamed of it anymore. And once we can cut the shame of feeling powerless to whatever we're powerless to, then there comes this beautiful strength." It's that type of openness and vulnerability that sits at the core of what makes 'I AM A PRISM' such a singular collection. Stream it here
Next month, Judah & The Lion will embark on a run of nearly 40 coast-to-coast North American tour dates alongside 'I AM A PRISM' - bookended by shows in their beloved home state of Tennessee. Kicking off the tour on September 17 at Knoxville's The Mill & Mine and concluding with a finale for 4,500 fans at The Pinnacle in Nashville (November 13) - 'The Boys Are Back (Tour)' will see the duo bring I AM A PRISM from Los Angeles' Fonda Theatre (September 30) to New York's Webster Hall (October 27) and through dozens of cities along the way. Before that though, they'll bring 'I AM A PRISM' to Grimey's (Tuesday August 18) and 888 (Thursday August 20) in Nashville and Songbirds in Chattanooga (Saturday August 29) for intimate home-state performances celebrating the new release.
